“[After the Babylonian captivity,] only a remnant chose to return [to Jerusalem], but a larger body of the Jews would settle in Babylon to mix bloodlines into the Arab world and spread the covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob into the seed of Ishmael and Esau. It is one of history's ironies that the modern Muslim populations of Iraq and Iran have within them the descendants of this larger body of Jewish exiles.
